Rihanna is a billionaire and the richest female musician on the planet, according to Forbes magazine.
The singer, 33, is worth $1.7 billion (£1.2 billion) making her the second richest female entertainer in the world behind Oprah Winfrey.

A total of $1.4bn (£1 billion) of her wealth comes from Fenty Beauty, which she owns 50% of, Forbes said.

She launched the line in 2017 and it reportedly made 100 million US dollars (£72 million) in its first 40 days.

It earns more than celebrity-founded beauty brands including Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Cosmetics, Kim Kardashian’s KKW Beauty and Jessica Alba’s Honest Company, Forbes said.

As well as her career in music and cosmetics, Barbados-born Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, is also behind the Savage X Fenty lingerie line and currently maintains a 30% ownership stake, according to the magazine which analyses the wealthiest individuals in the world.

Rihanna has not released an album since 2016’s Anti nut she has 101m followers on instagram and 102.5m on twitter.

With sales of over 250 million records worldwide, Rihanna is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. She has earned 14 number-ones and 31 top-ten singles in the US and 30 top-ten entries in the UK. Her accolades include nine Grammy Awards, 13 American Music Awards, 12 Billboard Music Awards. Time magazine named her as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2012 and 2018.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are among the stars who have recently been confirmed as billionaires by Forbes.
