A report from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers estimates that making the UK transport network fully accessible to disabled passengers could increase economic output by £176 billion a year. It finds that nearly three million people are currently effectively excluded from parts of the workforce due to inaccessible buses, trains, and stations. The report argues that investment in accessible infrastructure would significantly boost productivity and expand long-term economic participation.
