Refund calls as smoke 'blocks' Edgbaston fireworks display

Spectators who attended a fireworks display at a cricket ground have called for refunds after saying the show was ruined by weather conditions.

Attendees of a fireworks event at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham are asking for refunds after their view of the display was obscured by what seemed to be thick smoke, worsened by adverse weather conditions.

The event, which was promoted as Birmingham's "biggest fireworks spectacular," left many spectators, including families with children, disappointed and led to early departures from the venue.

Despite using the same fireworks as a successful show the previous night, the misty conditions on Saturday caused the smoke to linger, affecting visibility. Videos shared on social media show the extent of the smoke and some fireworks hitting the floodlights.

The stadium has acknowledged the issue, mentioned that other regional events were similarly affected, and has initiated an investigation. They will be in touch with all ticket holders regarding the situation.
