Reform Deputy Leader Richard Tice Balances Political Duties Between UK and UAE

Richard Tice, Reform UK's deputy leader, navigates responsibilities across two continents amid personal and professional commitments.
Richard Tice, deputy leader of Reform UK and Member of Parliament for Boston and Skegness, is currently managing commitments between his political responsibilities in the United Kingdom and personal engagements in the United Arab Emirates.

Tice's partner, journalist Isabel Oakeshott, relocated to Dubai several months ago with her children.

Despite the geographical separation, both Tice and Oakeshott affirm that their relationship is ongoing, coordinating visits in alignment with their schedules and availability of flights with Emirates Airlines.

Tice, who was elected as an MP six months ago, is one of five representatives from Reform UK, the successor to the UK Independence Party (UKIP).

The party is reportedly gaining traction, surpassing the Conservative Party in some opinion polls.

Despite his travel commitments, Tice emphasizes his dedication to his constituency and parliamentary responsibilities, noting that he ranks among the top 10 backbench speakers in the House of Commons.

He advocates for learning from international frameworks, exemplified by the rapid development in the UAE, where he has familial ties dating back to the mid-1970s.

Expressing concern over policies in the UK, Tice highlights issues such as high taxes and regulations as impediments to national growth.

He mentions that historically, smart individuals and wealth creators have been leaving the country, a trend he describes as unfortunate.

In Dubai, his partner, Isabel Oakeshott, holds positions as an international editor for Talk TV and as a columnist for the Daily Telegraph.

She cites the tax policies in the UK, particularly those affecting private education, as a motivating factor for exploring educational opportunities in the UAE, which she describes as economically vibrant and full of opportunities.

As for the wider political setting, Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, has not visited the couple in Dubai, owing to his international commitments.

Farage's engagements underscore the expanding global activities of Reform UK's leadership as they engage on an international scale.
