Reddit CEO Ignores User Backlash, Vows to Push Through API Changes Despite Protests

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman has warned employees not to wear branded gear in public due to a mass user backlash that has shut down large sections of the social media site.

The backlash was caused by Reddit's decision to drastically increase prices for third-party developers to access its API, which has led to protests from developers.

Some popular subreddits have gone private, and users have threatened to abandon the site.

Despite the outrage, Huffman shrugged off the situation, saying it was just "noise" and that the protest had not had a significant revenue impact so far.

He also vowed to keep moving forward with the API changes.

Reddit has been eyeing an IPO for years and recently laid off about 90 employees as it tries to get profitable.
