Electricity North West (ENW) predicts that by Monday's end, 99% of impacted homes will regain electricity. However, a minority might remain powerless till Tuesday, especially in harder-to-reach spots.

About 15,000 homes had power returned as engineers, using drones, surveyed and repaired the damages. ENW's Customer Director, Stephanie Trubshaw, emphasized that restoring power promptly was a priority and encouraged those in need of additional aid to contact the company.

The disruption has been severe, with travel chaos peaking when 200 vehicles got stranded on Saturday. Subsequently, frosty conditions prompted ice-related warnings and school closures across parts of the UK, including northeastern Scotland and northern England, where icy roads posed a threat.

ENW collaborates with local businesses to offer refreshments to those still in darkness, while Cumbria Police cautions drivers of treacherous roads. The RAC advises motorists to proceed with extra caution and prepare their vehicles for the icy conditions.

With local school closures affecting Kendal, Ambleside, and other areas, the community is advised to stay informed via online updates. In the wake of the weather, emergency services, assisted by mountain rescue teams and the British Red Cross, responded to various incidents and provided support to the power-deprived residents.
