This is a significant increase from last year, when 3,140 migrants arrived in the UK after crossing the Channel.
The increase in crossings comes despite Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's promise to "stop the boats," which he made in January this year.
The total number of migrant crossings for the first half of 2023 is still 10% lower than this time last year, with a total of 12,747.
Despite recent setbacks to his plan, Sunak remains committed to stopping Channel crossings and insists that his plan is "starting to work."
