Record Number of Delays and Disruption at Royal Mail Leads to Calls for Tougher Review

The charity called for a tougher review into Royal Mail, citing the high number of delays and disproportionate impact on people of color and disabled individuals.

The charity also urged regulator Ofcom to launch a multi-year review into mail delays and deprioritization.

Royal Mail has blamed strikes and high levels of staff absence for the disruption.

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) and Ofcom are discussing the quality of service provided by Royal Mail.

The CWU claims that an improvement plan is already underway, but also states that the treatment of frontline workers has led to a crisis of morale and record amounts of workers leaving the industry.

Ofcom is investigating Royal Mail's failure to meet delivery targets and may impose a financial penalty if it determines that Royal Mail has not complied with its obligations.
