Rail Workers Demand Equal Pay as Train Drivers
Rail workers, represented by the RMT Union, demand pay terms similar to those offered to train drivers to end strike actions. RMT leader Mick Lynch expects a synchronized offer akin to the 4.5% increase this year given to the drivers' union Aslef. Despite the deal, Aslef has announced weekend strikes at London North Eastern Railway for September, October, and November.

Lynch emphasized a parallel offer to that given to the drivers' union Aslef, which included a three-year pay deal with a 4.5% increase this year.
Despite this offer, Aslef announced strikes at London North Eastern Railway on weekends in September, October, and November.
The RMT will enter negotiations with the Department for Transport and Network Rail next week.
The Labour government, which now handles pay negotiations, has defended the pay deals and proposed further railway reforms.
The RMT also continues talks with the Ministry of Defence regarding strikes by Royal Fleet Auxiliary members.
