The rebrand affects 15 stations, including Sheffield's Hallam FM and Preston's Rock FM, which will also adopt the Hits Radio brand.
Bauer Media's Audio UK CEO Simon Myciunka views this as a fresh start for the stations, aiming for national recognition.
The company noted the importance of the tower's current branding but is contemplating a new direction that aligns with Hits Radio and Greatest Hits Radio, both housed in the tower.
Listeners have expressed disappointment over the potential name change, citing Radio City's nearly 50-year legacy in Liverpool.
Despite the rebrand, many anticipate the tower will continue to be called Radio City Tower by locals.
Bauer Media stresses its commitment to radio's future, highlighting the expanded choices digital listening has introduced, and expects the new brand to foster growth for the stations.
