Jon Boutcher has been appointed as the new chief constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI). Mr. Boutcher was already serving as the interim chief constable of the PSNI and was formerly the head of Bedfordshire Police.
This appointment follows the resignation of the previous chief constable, Simon Byrne, in September. The decision was made by the Policing Board and approved by the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.
Jon Boutcher will face challenges in managing the PSNI and addressing financial pressures and confidence issues within the force.
