Prince William goes for chocolate sprinkles at famous Welsh ice cream shop
Joe’s Ice Cream is a household name for many in Wales – and it seems the future King of England is a fan too.
Prince William and wife Kate stopped off at the branch in Mumbles, Swansea to try a cone today.
First of all, he went for a classic vanilla, which is the brand’s signature flavour.
To spice things up, he chose chocolate sprinkles on top.
Staff revealed he enjoyed it so much that he went back for a second helping, this time going for chocolate ice cream.
One worker said: ‘We served up some of our famous vanilla ice cream which they really enjoyed. They said it was really nice.
‘William told us that his favourite flavour was chocolate so we gave him some of our chocolate ice cream which he loved!
‘They were lovely. So easy to talk to and they made the effort to speak to everyone here – even the school children.’
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met with a group of local parents, carers and schoolchildren before having their ice creams at the branch, which is on a seaside pier.
They were joined by hundreds of well-wishers as they also visited a life boat station.
Joe’s Ice Cream – which calls itself ‘the best ice cream in the world’ – opened its first shop in Swansea almost 100 years ago.
Local newspaper WalesOnline reported that before leaving, the prince advised children there: ‘Enjoy your ice cream and have double sprinkles for me next time.’
