Police in South Yorkshire are conducting an investigation following reports of stalking and harassment involving Alex Gray, a star of the Gladiators television show, known by his stage name 'Apollo'.

Gray, aged 33, reportedly faced harassment both on the production set and at his accommodation in Sheffield.

According to a report by The Sun On Sunday, the harassment was allegedly committed by a woman.

Confirming the investigation, South Yorkshire Police stated they are 'aware of reports of a man in his 30s being subjected to stalking and harassment' and that their 'enquiries are ongoing'.

Gray, who was formerly a rugby union player for the England rugby sevens team before transitioning to NFL American football, commented to the newspaper on the matter, stating that there 'was an incident'.

However, he mentioned that further details could not be provided until there is a formal outcome or action taken by authorities.

In response to the reports, the BBC and production company Hungry Bear Media have reportedly arranged additional security measures around the Utilita Arena Sheffield, as well as outside the accommodations used by show participants.

Gray, as part of the Gladiators line-up, recently appeared in the second series of the show’s reboot on BBC One, hosted by Bradley and Barney Walsh.

The Gladiators show, originally an American series which debuted in 1989, has seen various international adaptations, including a UK version that first aired in 1992. Production companies involved have chosen not to comment further at this time.
