ITV Commissions External Review into Relationship with Former This Morning Presenter

The review will be led by barrister Jane Mulcahy KC and will examine the network's relevant processes and policies, as well as any related issues that may emerge.

The review will be carried out as quickly as possible, and ITV will share the outcome with relevant authorities.

Schofield resigned from ITV last week and was dropped by his talent agency after admitting to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with the younger employee.

The employee was aged 19 when he first did work experience at This Morning and 20 years old when he applied and succeeded in securing a job as a runner on the show.

ITV previously investigated rumors of a relationship in 2020, but did not find any evidence beyond hearsay and rumor.

The network offered support to the former employee.

ITV bosses will face MPs on the Commons DCMS Committee on Tuesday to discuss reforms to the laws governing public broadcasting.

The charity founded by the King has ended its partnership with the presenter Schofield, who was also set to host the British Soap Awards this weekend.

The external review conducted following a complaint made by Dr Ranj Singh, who previously worked on This Morning and alleged a toxic environment on the show, found no evidence of bullying or discrimination.

ITV is developing a new prime-time series without Schofield.
