The announcement comes after a year of disruption in the men's professional golf game following the launch of the LIV Golf circuit, which was backed by Saudi Arabia.

The merger will combine the strengths of the PGA Tour's history and pro-competitive model with the DP World Tour and LIV, including the team golf concept, to create an organization that benefits golf's players, partners, and fans.

The merger will also lead to the mutually-agreed end of all pending litigation between the various organizations, including the anti-trust lawsuit filed against the PGA Tour by 11 golfers and the legal battle won by the DP World Tour against 12 LIV players.

The PGA Tour and LIV Golf have pledged to establish a fair and objective process for players to re-apply for membership after the end of the season.
