Paula Abdul Files Lawsuit Against Nigel Lythgoe Alleging Sexual Assault
Paula Abdul has filed a lawsuit against British TV producer Nigel Lythgoe, accusing him of sexual assault during their time on American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance.
The alleged incidents took place in the early 2000s and more than a decade later. Lythgoe, who has not yet commented, is said to have assaulted Abdul in an elevator during auditions and again at his home in LA.
Another claim involves the assault of one of Abdul's assistants. Abdul remained quiet for years due to career concerns and contractual constraints. Her lawsuit is enabled by a California law waiving the statute of limitations on sexual assault cases.
