Workers responsible for patrol boats operating in the English Channel have overwhelmingly voted in favor of strike action due to disputes regarding pay allowances.

According to the Public and Commercial Services union (PCS), more than 100 members of the Border Force Maritime division participated in the ballot, with 99% supporting the decision to strike.

The union has formally requested that the Home Office address the issue of improved payments for these workers.

Fran Heathcote, the general secretary of PCS, expressed that the members have been awaiting resolution for an extended period, highlighting that many have forfeited earnings over the past five years.

The recent ballot result reflects a strong sentiment among the employees, asserting their demand for fair compensation and a prompt resolution to their grievances.

The union's actions underscore the ongoing tensions within the Border Force Maritime section, as workers seek to amplify their concerns regarding working conditions and remuneration.
