More than 100 young participants completed a sailing race across the English Channel from Guernsey to Poole in Dorset, marking the 200th anniversary of the RNLI.

The event, organized by the Association of Sail Training Organisations (ASTO), included a week of training in Guernsey.

The sailors, most of whom were novices, learned vital teamwork and social skills.

Notably, student Izzy Lynn, 19, from Bristol highlighted the experience's impact on her understanding of teamwork and social integration.

Earlier, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited Guernsey to meet the crews.

The event focused on promoting the benefits of sailing, including mental health improvement, as emphasized by ASTO’s CEO Kerry McMillan.
