In response, Justice Secretary Alex Chalk is discussing expediting appeals for those wrongly convicted due to the Post Office's flawed IT system. Out of 900 convictions tied to accounting errors, only 86 have been overturned, while more than 2,500 have received settlements for the harm experienced.

The airing of the series has led to a surge in legal inquiries from individuals and relatives affected by wrongful prosecutions and financial losses. The Post Office scandal inquiry is set to continue with a focus on Stephen Bradshaw, a former investigator with notable involvement. Bradshaw's testimony, delayed by the discovery of over 300,000 emails, is highly anticipated.

Attorney Neil Hudgell stresses the need for accountability, indicating ongoing efforts to aid the inquiry with fresh evidence. There is hope that the increased media attention will intensify the scrutiny of the public inquiry led by Sir Wyn Williams.

Lawyers have voiced frustration over incomplete document disclosure by the Post Office, which hinders their ability to effectively question witnesses.

The inquiry will also look into Fujitsu's role, the company behind the flawed Horizon system, and anticipate legal action from the government for its accountability in the compensation fund.
