One of London's cheapest areas where locals are still moving 100 miles away

Ozzie Osman's takeaway shop The Big Fry has existed in Barking and Dagenham for the last 20 years and is located on Lodge Avenue which is just a few minutes away from the A13 which transports drivers out of London.

Residents in a low-cost area of East London, Barking, are reportedly relocating over 100 miles away due to rising housing costs. Local business owners have observed this trend, with some residents moving to more affordable places like Lincolnshire.

The cost of living has affected local businesses, leading to slower trade in recent times. Despite being one of London's most affordable areas to buy a home, lifestyle changes and stagnant salaries have driven people to seek more spacious and affordable properties outside the M25. Barking and Dagenham Council has plans to build 50,000 new homes by 2037, focusing on affordable housing options to accommodate a growing population.
