Victoria police reported that the medals, along with other items, were taken from a Land Rover parked on Cumberland Street in Docklands between 9pm Thursday and 5am Friday last week.
Ginn had left the medals in his car due to a speaking engagement at a school.
The medals, spanning four consecutive Olympics from 1996 to 2012, hold significant sentimental value and are considered priceless.
Police urge the public to be vigilant for these items in pawn shops and online marketplaces.
A photo of the stolen medals has been released as police continue their investigation.
