Billam-Smith emerges victorious in controversial world championship bout
Chris Billam-Smith became the new world champion in a title bout against Lawrence Okolie in Bournemouth.
Billam-Smith won by majority decision in a scrappy fight with three knockdowns and two points deducted from Okolie.
The result was controversial with one judge scoring it 112-112, while the other two gave it to Billam-Smith 116-107 and 115-108.
The victory was a big moment for Billam-Smith, who was previously an unbeaten fighter and had faced a tough challenge in front of his home fans.
