Ofcom launches investigation into TV shows featuring politicians as presenters
Ofcom, the media watchdog, is investigating an episode of Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg's GB News show in which he covered a breaking news story about a court case involving Donald Trump.
Ofcom received 40 complaints objecting to Rees-Mogg acting as a newsreader during the State Of The Nation show on May 9th.
The investigation will also look into whether the GB News programme abided by guidelines when reporting on the former US President.
Ofcom is also investigating an episode of Talk TV presented by Alex Salmond and an edition of GB News' Saturday Morning With Esther And Philip, which stars two serving MPs. Ofcom is conducting new research to gauge audience attitudes towards current affairs programmes presented by sitting politicians.
