Sofia was seriously ill with a rare blood disorder when she was two years old, and Dana was identified as a genetic match through the Anthony Nolan charity.
While they had been in email contact for five years, their emotional reunion took place when Dana, 52, flew to Birmingham Airport. Sofia expressed her gratitude, saying she doesn't remember the transplant, but she wanted to say thank you.
She has fully recovered from the Congenital Amegakaryocytic Thrombocytopenia (CAMT) that affected her bone marrow's ability to produce blood-clotting cells.
