Nigel Farage Wins Clacton as Reform UK Secures Four Seats

Nigel Farage has been elected as an MP for the first time, winning the Clacton seat for Reform UK. The party took four seats in total, including Great Yarmouth and Boston and Skegness. This marks a significant shift, as Farage aims to establish Reform UK as a major player in British politics.
Nigel Farage has been elected as an MP for the first time, winning the Clacton seat in Essex.

Reform UK, led by Farage, gained more than four million votes, winning four seats, including overturning a Conservative majority of over 25,000 in Clacton.

Farage's victory speech proclaimed this the beginning of a significant shift in British politics.

The party also took Great Yarmouth, and Boston and Skegness from the Conservatives, with former Tory MP Lee Anderson retaining Ashfield.

Reform aimed to fill a perceived center-right gap in UK politics, targeting both Conservative and Labour voters.

Polling expert Sir John Curtice noted Reform's gains in Leave-voting areas, while Reform UK chairman Richard Tice won Boston and Skegness.

The results also saw Reform outperform Conservatives in several northern districts, though Labour held on in key areas like Barnsley North and Hartlepool.
