'My uncle died in Grenfell Tower and it's so stressful living right beneath it'

The tragic fire at Grenfell Tower happened over six years ago in June 2017. Seventy two people died in the inferno and a further 70 were injured. Since that devastating day the tower has remained standing, serving as an unwelcome sight and constant trigger for some but seen by others as an important reminder of what happened and the failings of the system.

Residents living near Grenfell Tower in the Lancaster West Estate have conflicting views on what should be done with the tower, which has remained standing since the tragic fire in June 2017.

Some residents, like Donovan, who lost his uncle in the fire, believe the tower should be demolished as it serves as a constant and stressful reminder of the tragedy. Others, like Johnathon Gilbert, suggest that if it's feasible, the tower should be refurbished and restored to social housing to address London's housing needs.

Rhoda Murphy and Keeleigh also lean towards demolition, as they believe it's not fair to the people living in the area to have a constant reminder of the tragedy. The decision on the tower's future rests with the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, and no final decision has been made yet.

Kensington and Chelsea Council is not involved in the decision-making process regarding the tower's future, as per the community's request.
