Former minister Crispin Blunt, the Conservative MP for Reigate, has confirmed that he was arrested on suspicion of rape and possession of controlled substances. He stated that he had twice been interviewed by police in connection with the incident, which he originally reported to the police three weeks ago, citing concerns about extortion.
He is cooperating with Surrey Police's investigation and expressed confidence that he would not be charged. The Conservative Party suspended Mr. Blunt after the arrest, and he will sit as an independent MP. Mr. Blunt previously served as a justice minister and chaired the Foreign Affairs Committee.
