The harrowing incident involving Sarah de Lagarde, a London mother who lost her right arm and leg in a tragic accident at High Barnet Underground Station. On a rainy night, she slipped on a wet platform, collided with a stationary train, and fell onto the tracks.
Despite her cries for help, no one noticed her, and she was subsequently run over by two trains. It took 15 minutes for someone to notice her and another hour for rescue services to reach her.
Sarah de Lagarde survived the ordeal but suffered severe injuries. She expressed frustration at the lack of immediate assistance and called for safety improvements, such as sensors on the tracks and station staff presence.
Transport for London (TfL) conducted investigations, and while the Office of Rail and Road's investigation was closed in February, the Rail Accident Investigation Branch chose not to investigate further. TfL continues to consider the introduction of platform edge doors for safety.
