Since 2018, 215 troops have been diagnosed with autism, while 694 have ADHD and 82 have Asperger's.

Previously, autism was generally considered a bar to military service, but the military has updated its "medical employment standards" to allow greater discretion.

The MoD is proud of the diverse makeup of its armed forces and welcomes neurodiverse individuals.

The British Army is currently hiring 10,000 new troops this year to maintain numbers.
