Miss World: Welsh beauty queen arrives in India

Miss Wales, Darcey Corria, has arrived in India to compete in Miss World after overcoming serious injuries from a January car accident.

Despite a broken neck and pelvis, Darcey, who won her national title in 2022, is now striving to "bring the crown home to Wales."

The 22-year-old beauty queen from Barry faced a difficult recovery after her car was struck by another vehicle on the M4, but she credits the experience with making her stronger.

She is determined to serve as a role model, particularly to young women of ethnic minority backgrounds, emphasizing the importance of diversity which she felt was lacking in her youth in Wales.

As one of 115 contestants, Darcey aims to promote the culture of her home country, even introducing her peers to Welsh traditions and urging them to explore the warmth and diversity of Wales. The Miss World winner will be crowned on March 9.
