Microsoft's $69 Billion Bid for Activision Blizzard Faces Scrutiny from US Federal Trade Commission

Microsoft is trying to buy Activision Blizzard, a video game company, for $69 billion.

The UK competition watchdog blocked the deal in April, and the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is concerned that it would give Microsoft an unfair advantage over rival PlayStation in cloud gaming.

The FTC will hear Microsoft's arguments over five days, and Call of Duty, one of the franchises at stake, may not have appeared on Xbox without the deal.

Microsoft thinks the next generation of consoles will be released in 2028, and Indiana Jones is part of a video game deal made by MachineGames, a developer owned by Microsoft.

Starfield, a science-fiction game, will only be released on Xbox and PC, and PlayStation and Xbox bosses will give evidence in the hearing.

The article mentions that there are more witnesses to be called in an ongoing trial, including the CEOs of Activision Blizzard and Microsoft.

The trial is scheduled to end next week.
