Microsoft President Brad Smith Meets with UK Chancellor Jeremy Hunt to Discuss Blocked Merger with Activision Blizzard
Microsoft President Brad Smith met with UK Chancellor Jeremy Hunt to discuss the company's blocked merger with Activision Blizzard.
The British competition authorities had blocked the $69bn deal in April, citing concerns it would harm competition in the cloud gaming sector.
Smith is hoping to work with regulators to win approval for the merger.
The European Union approved the deal in May after accepting remedies proposed by Microsoft, but the company has also lodged an appeal against the US Federal Trade Commission's action seeking to block the deal.
The appeal in Britain will be heard next month, with a verdict expected in August or September.
