Michelle Mone Acknowledges Potential £60 Million PPE Profit Benefit
Michelle Mone has acknowledged that she could gain from a profit of approximately £60 million from PPE sales to the UK government during the pandemic, transactions conducted by a company linked to her husband, Doug Barrowman.

PPE Medpro, the company in question, landed over £200 million in government contracts via a "VIP lane" intended to expedite contract awards. Mone was named as the referrer for PPE Medpro's VIP lane access.
Some PPE supplied wasn't used, but the couple insists it met contractual terms. The UK government is now suing PPE Medpro for £122 million for alleged breach of contract.
Mone, a former Conservative peer and entrepreneur, conceded that both she and her children are trust beneficiaries holding the profits, though asserting none of the funds had yet been accessed. They also have been investigated by the National Crime Agency for potential fraudulent activities linked to the PPE deals.
Furthermore, Mone is being investigated by the House of Lords for failing to declare her interest in PPE Medpro, despite claiming she followed Cabinet Office advice in handling the disclosure of her interests.
Barrowman, not listed on Companies House in connection with PPE Medpro, claims he is the ultimate beneficiary owner and states the company made a substantial profit from their contracts—arguably a reasonable return given the risks.
Amidst separate criminal investigations by the NCA, the Department of Health has accused PPE Medpro of wrongdoing, an allegation Barrowman alleges he was asked to pay to suppress, which he refused. An NCA spokesperson confirmed the investigation, which began in May 2021, is ongoing.
The couple criticized the government for excessive PPE procurement and claimed their lives have been unfairly disrupted by media scrutiny and government scapegoating due to their high profile. Despite Mone's current leave from Parliament, she has not considered relinquishing her title, although her situation became a topic of debate in Prime Minister's Questions.
Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden defended the VIP lane process on the same program, denying claims of favoritism and asserting that any fraud would be fully addressed by the government.
