Michael Matheson: Scottish health secretary quits over £11k iPad bill

Scottish Health Secretary Michael Matheson has resigned following a controversy over an £11,000 bill for his parliamentary iPad, which his sons used as a data hotspot during a family vacation in Morocco.

He repaid the amount and apologized, stepping down to avoid distraction from government work. Neil Gray replaces him as Health Secretary after a cabinet reshuffle by First Minister Humza Yousaf.

An investigation by the Scottish Parliament Corporate Body (SPCB) into the expense claim is underway. Matheson's resignation occurred shortly before Yousaf faced questioning in parliament.

The SPCB will soon present Matheson with its findings, to which he can respond within two weeks. Critics have accused Yousaf of appearing weak for not dismissing Matheson sooner. The incident has added to existing criticism of the government's handling of health issues.
