Home Secretary Suella Braverman has called on the Metropolitan Police to use the "full force of the law" after video footage captured a pro-Palestinian protester chanting "jihad" during a demonstration in Central London.

The police initially stated no offenses were identified, citing the word's multiple meanings, but officers spoke to the individual to discourage similar chants. Home Office minister Robert Jenrick has described such chanting as "inciting terrorist violence."

The Commission for Countering Extremism had previously urged more action against extremism, citing gaps in current legislation. The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, emphasized a zero-tolerance approach to hate crime, and an investigation is underway after a Tube driver led a "free Palestine" chant on the London Underground.
