The Met Office has extended an amber extreme heat warning covering London, southern England, the South East, and parts of the East of England, with temperatures expected to peak at 38 degrees Celsius by midweek. Officials are warning of increased risks to health as well as potential strain on energy supply, water systems, and transport networks during the prolonged hot spell.
