Medicines Regulator Approves First Targeted Treatment for Advanced Merkel Cell Skin Cancer
The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has approved Retifanlimab, marketed as ZYNYZ, as the first targeted treatment for adults with advanced Merkel cell carcinoma that has spread or returned and cannot be treated through surgery or radiotherapy. The immunotherapy works by helping the immune system recognize and attack cancer cells, offering a new treatment option for patients with this rare and aggressive form of skin cancer.
