Captured on video and shared online, the incident showed the guard mopping the pavement around the man, identified as Aaron McCarthy, leaving his belongings soaked with a mixture of dirty water and bleach.

The incident occurred on a Saturday night outside a McDonald's on Victoria Street, as McCarthy sat near the entrance. After being asked to move by a McDonald's employee and having his blankets forcefully shifted, McCarthy faced a distressing situation as his sleeping area was cleaned with soapy, bleach-infused water.

In an interview with the Telegraph, McCarthy described the encounter as disgusting and said it caused him significant distress and a sleepless night due to the soaked bedding which still smelled of bleach. Despite explaining that he wasn't blocking McDonald's but was in fact in front of a bank, he was met with indifference.

McDonald's responded to the incident, stating their shock and sadness, and announcing the implicated third-party security guards had been dismissed.

The company reaffirmed their commitment to respectful treatment of all individuals, including the homeless community. McDonald's plans to extend an apology to McCarthy directly and is seeking to provide assistance through local homelessness charities.
