Massive Mountain Retreat In Colorado With A Barn-Inspired Design

Massive Mountain Retreat In Colorado With A Barn-Inspired Design

There’s no shortage of space or spectacular views when it comes to this house from Copper Mountains, Colorado.

This is a barn-inspired home designed by Plaad Office and Collective Design Group and it has 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms in total plus a multitude of common areas. From the outside it’s a massive built but rather than looking very imposing or intimidating it looks like a very inviting and cozy place to be in.

The overall exterior design of the house is reminiscent of traditional barns and farmhouses
Large windows and sliding doors fill the indoor areas with light and connect them to all the lovely outdoor spaces as well as to the beautiful views. On the outside the house is surrounded by a lot of vegetation and has features such as a heated patio which allows the inhabitants to comfortably enjoy the outdoors at all times. The timber frame and pitched rood and dormer windows give it a farmhouse-inspired look, a bit rustic but still modern overall.
The use of wood and stone for both the exterior and the interior of the house gives it an earthy and rustic look
The rooms are organized on multiple floors and some have double-height ceilings
The lower level of the house is where all the entertainment areas are clustered together. There’s a custom wet bar, a poker table, a home theater, a spacious lounge area and even a bowling alley. The great room has a soaring ceiling which gives it a very airy feel. Still, all the wood and stone accents contribute to creating a very warm and pleasant ambiance which makes this area feel really cozy.

The living room has a very open and airy feel and has easy access to a heated patio

A two-story stone fireplace is the centerpiece of the living area

The kitchen, dining area and living room are combined and share an open floor plan but still maintain their individuality thanks to the way in which they’re distributed. A two-story stone fireplace is the main centerpiece and an array of large farmhouse-style windows provide lovely views and create a serene ambiance throughout. The house as a whole has a nice lived-in look and feel and a lot of depth and character which is what makes it feel like a real home.

The dining area is framed by a wall of farmhouse windows with a lovely view of the garden
There’s also a smaller and more intimate nook in this corner for casual meals
Stone was also used in other areas of the house like the bathrooms to create a unique and nature-inspired design
The upstairs area includes a library with a cozy seating nook and its own fireplace
A series of wooden stairs lead to the upper section of the house where the bedrooms are situated
Elegant crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling and adorn the bedrooms
Double sink vanities and spacious bathrooms turn the bedrooms into stylish suites
All the rooms including the upstairs areas are very spacious and have cozy nooks and seating areas built into them
There’s plenty of space in this bathroom for both a freestanding tub and a glass walk-in shower
Even the entrance area is very spacious, with plenty of storage for ski equipment and more
A beautiful wet bar complements the rest of the entertainment areas found on the lower level of the house
