A 2022 survey found that 10% of 13-year-olds and 25% of 15-year-olds in Scotland were using vapes, up from 1% and 2% respectively in 2015.

Public Health Scotland consultant Dr. Garth Reid also noted that one in four 15-year-olds were believed to be vaping.

Concerns were raised about the marketing of e-cigarettes to children through factors like bright colors, sweet flavors, design, and price points.

Experts highlighted health risks associated with vaping and warned about potential long-term health effects, including links to cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

First Minister Humza Yousaf announced that the government would hold a consultation on a single-use vape ban in Scotland.
