The English club became the fourth from their nation to seize the global crown, with Julian Alvarez scoring twice, alongside an own goal and a Phil Foden strike, cementing their victory.

Manchester City, led by Pep Guardiola, have now secured an impressive array of silverware in 2023, including the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and now the FIFA Club World Cup.

They entered as Europe's champions, defeating Urawa Red Diamonds 4-2 in the semifinals to reach the final, while their Brazilian opponents qualified as winners of the Copa Libertadores.

Despite missing star forward Erling Haaland due to injury, Manchester City showcased their depth and financial prowess, which starkly contrasts with Fluminense's more modest means.

In a post-match altercation, 33-year-old Kyle Walker was involved in a scuffle with Fluminense's Fernando Diniz.

Guardiola secured his fourth Club World Cup victory and remains hopeful that midfielder Rodri's second-half injury isn't severe.

Meanwhile, Al Ahly of Egypt claimed third place by beating Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds 4-2, highlighting European teams' dominance in this tournament, with 16 wins in the last 17 editions.
