Man Dies After Falling Near Colindale Tube Station Following Police Engagement
Police and emergency services respond to a welfare concern incident in north London.
A man has died following a fall from a height near Colindale underground station in north London after police officers responded to concerns for his welfare.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, 18 March, at approximately 1:45 PM local time, when Metropolitan Police received a call regarding the man's safety in Colindale Avenue.
Officers arrived at the scene and were in the process of engaging with the individual when he fell onto the railway line below.
Despite immediate medical attention from paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
In support of the Metropolitan Police, the British Transport Police, the London Ambulance Service, the London Fire Brigade, and London's Air Ambulance were also on-site.
The British Transport Police are leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death and have confirmed that they received the call about the welfare concern at 1:50 PM. Upon arrival at Colindale station, officers were informed that the situation had escalated to a casualty on the tracks.
A section of the Northern Line, which runs between Golders Green and Edgware, was temporarily closed to facilitate emergency operations.
Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the specific details leading up to the incident.
