A man has been charged with assaulting former U.K. health secretary Matt Hancock on the London Underground and will have to appear in court next month.
61-year-old Geza Tarjanyi, from Leyland in Lancashire, has been charged with common assault and two public order offences, in connection to a man being assaulted and harassed at Westminster Underground station on Tuesday, the British Transport Police said in a statement published this Thursday.
Tarjanyi has been released on conditional bail to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on February 22, the statement reads.
Several media outlets report that the man being assaulted and harassed is former U.K. health secretary Matt Hancock. He is not thought to have been hurt in the incident.
The politician is known for both leading the U.K.’s pandemic response as health secretary, but also for taking part in reality TV shows, most famously the cast of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! last year.
