National Rail reported that a fault with the signalling system at the station has led to all lines being blocked, causing delays and potential cancellations of trains by up to 60 minutes.
It is anticipated that these disruptions will persist until at least 6 PM.
In a related incident, delays were reported on the London Overground’s Weaver Line after signalling cables were stolen from the Hackney area.
Although Network Rail has addressed the earlier issues that also affected Stansted Express trains, residual delays are expected as the system works to clear the backlog of passengers waiting.
In addition to rail disruptions, the M25 motorway is experiencing significant traffic delays due to a car fire that closed three out of four lanes anti-clockwise between Junctions 7 and 6 in Surrey.
Emergency services are currently on the scene, attempting to extinguish the flames and manage traffic flow, with drivers facing delays of approximately 35 minutes.
Another traffic incident has occurred near Cockfosters, leading to the closure of Enfield Road.
The crash has resulted in queuing traffic in both directions, and detour routes are in effect for vehicles, including bus routes 121, 307, and 377.
The earlier multi-vehicle collision on the M25 clockwise between Junctions 11 and 10 has now been cleared, allowing all motorway lanes to reopen.
However, drivers may still encounter delays of up to 45 minutes as congestion gradually alleviates.
Passengers affected by the delays at London Marylebone are reminded that they may be eligible for a refund on their tickets if their journey was disrupted.
On a positive note, all London Underground and Overground routes are currently operating at full service after previously experiencing severe delays due to the cable theft on the Weaver Line.
Nonetheless, severe delays remain reported on the Weaver Line as operational staff work to manage the remaining backlog.
Traffic congestion is also notable around Vauxhall Bridge, where delays are occurring in both directions.
The closure of Vauxhall Bridge Road has been attributed to an earlier police incident, although specific details remain undisclosed at this time.
Additionally, disruptions have been reported on the M25 clockwise near Dartford due to a separate crash involving several lorries, creating congestion around Junction 13 near Thurrock and over the Dartford Crossing Queen Elizabeth II bridge.
Motorists are advised to steer clear of the area to minimize delays.
In the wake of the theft of signalling cables in the Hackney area, services to Stansted Airport from Liverpool Street have resumed.
Greater Anglia announced that all lines have been reopened following essential repairs conducted by Network Rail engineers.
However, passengers are cautioned that some last-minute delays may still occur due to residual traffic congestion.
