Major operators, Southern and Thameslink, have experienced disruptions to their services between key locations, including East Croydon, Selhurst, and London Bridge.
The Thameslink services connecting Sutton, Bedford, St Albans, Horsham, Peterborough, Brighton, and Three Bridges have also been affected.
Following the reports of the incident, which prompted an immediate investigation, all lines in the Streatham area were temporarily closed.
However, subsequent findings revealed no evidence of the reported event, leading to the reopening of the lines.
Despite this, National Rail has indicated that travel disruptions are anticipated to continue until 10 PM.
A spokesperson for National Rail confirmed the earlier incident report and stated, "There were reports that a person had been hit by a train earlier today.
All lines were shut in the Streatham area whilst this was investigated; however, no evidence of the incident was found and the lines have reopened.
Southern and Thameslink have begun to recover their service but there will be ongoing delays, alterations, and cancellations whilst they work to get their crew and trains back to their working timetable."
Passengers have been advised to allow an additional 15 minutes for their journeys and to monitor station screens for updates regarding service status.
Ongoing disruptions are expected, alongside cancellations and service alterations, particularly affecting the route between St Albans and Sutton.
To facilitate travel for affected passengers, tickets are being accepted on alternative transportation options, including London buses, trams operating between East Croydon and Wimbledon, and services on the London Underground.
