Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan won the 2024 Love Island grand final, taking home the fifty thousand pound prize. Joey Essex was eliminated before the final, and the show has introduced new measures for contestant wellbeing. Viewing figures have declined but the 2024 opener saw two million viewers.
In the grand final of Love Island's 2024 summer series, Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan were crowned winners, securing the £50,000 prize.
They were followed by Nicole Samuel and Ciaran Davies in second place, while Matilda Draper and Sean Stone took third, and Jessica Spencer and Ayo Odukoya finished fourth.
The final episode was marked by heartfelt declarations of love between the finalists.
Mimii praised Josh for his attentiveness and kindness, while Josh touched hearts with a poem he had promised Mimii.
Joey Essex, initially a favorite, was eliminated just before the final after a dramatic fallout and a vote for the 'least compatible couple.' Love Island, although once a prime show for ITV, has seen a decline in viewership over recent years.
Six million watched the 2019 final, but only one million tuned in for the All Stars edition earlier this year.
The 2024 series opener saw a slight improvement with about 2 million viewers, up from 1.3 million in 2023.
The show has also introduced stricter measures for contestant wellbeing, including a social media ban for family and friends to prevent online abuse.
This is part of ITV's ongoing duty of care strategy, following tragic incidents involving former islanders.
