LORENZO A MAJOR HURRICANE..EXPECTED TO MOVE NORTH WEST TODAY

26th September 2019 -Lorenzo continues to be a powerful Category 3 hurricane as it crosses the Atlantic. The system is expected to track to the North West today and possibly to North on Friday.
At this distance with the expected early tracks to the Northwest and then to North, Lorenzo will be no threat to.

As of 6:00 am this morning the Cat 3 hurricane was located 15.2 degrees north, 39.3 degrees west or approximately 1686 miles East of the British Virgin Islands with a forward speed of 15 mph. Maximum sustained winds are 125 mph with higher gusts and Lorenzo is expected to strengthen further possibly today.

Hurricane force winds extend 35 miles from the centre, while tropical force winds extend outward up to 205 miles. Lorenzo becomes the thirteenth named storm and of one the major hurricanes for the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

The Department of Disaster Management will continue to monitor the conditions in the Atlantic as the area remains very active for development with the potential for more systems moving off the West Coast of Africa.
