Lords Committee Urges Protection for Vulnerable Brits in EU, Warns of 'Windrush-Type Scenario'

The House of Lords European Affairs Committee has urged Suella Braverman, the UK Home Secretary, to take action to protect the rights of vulnerable British citizens in the EU, particularly those affected by the case of an elderly woman with dementia who was threatened with deportation from Sweden.

The committee also expressed concerns about the rights of EU citizens in the UK, which have been guaranteed under the Brexit withdrawal agreement, and warned of the potential for a "Windrush-type scenario" if more is not done to protect their rights.

The committee has called for resources to support UK citizens in the EU to be restored and for a statutory body to be established to monitor enforcement of the withdrawal agreement across the EU.
