Truss's advocacy has raised eyebrows due to her outwardly strong opposition to China, including a Taiwan visit where she encouraged labeling China as a threat.
Her actions are being scrutinized for possibly conflicting with both Taiwan's and the UK's national interest. Experts argue that the technology in question could aid China militarily and that expediting its export is risky.
Allegations suggest Truss was acting in her capacity as an MP for South West Norfolk, but critics note MPs are not bound to support all constituent endeavors, especially when they could endanger national and allied interests.
The UK government initially rejected the export license due to fears of the technology being repurposed by the Chinese government. However, following Truss's letter, the case remains under review.
Badenoch's department, troubled by the information leak from a Freedom of Information request, has withheld the final response to Truss and is investigating the release of the correspondence, which they consider part of routine MP engagement.
