Mac Allister is a World Cup winner and has been the subject of interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and other clubs.

However, Liverpool have won the race for his signature and are set to pay a fee between £45 and £61 million for the player, which is less than the reported £70 million release clause.

Mac Allister's move to Liverpool is part of the club's plan to overhaul their midfield following the departures of James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The player wants the move to be finalized before he joins up with the Argentina national team.

Liverpool had also shown interest in Jude Bellingham, but have moved on from that possibility and are now targeting French duo Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram.

The club is expected to ramp up its transfer activity in the coming weeks with the appointment of Jorg Schmadtke as the new sporting director.

Mac Allister will join a team that includes Fabinho and Jordan Henderson and is expected to help supplement the team's pressing style.
